Portrait of Jesús Ramírez Ramos

Jesús Ramírez Ramos

Engineering Manager · Tech Lead

Open to strategic leadership opportunities (Principal, EM, or VP roles).

I build and scale high-performing engineering organizations. Over the last decade at Volkswagen Group, I grew the NADIN department from 3 to 25 engineers, shipping software used by importers in 118 countries. AWS Certified Solutions Architect & SAFe, combining strategic vision with hands-on expertise in Java/Spring, AWS, and Android.

Experience

Senior Software Engineering Manager

09/2020 – Present

Volkswagen Group Services · Remote (Madrid)

  • Founded the NADIN engineering department and scaled it from 3 to 25 engineers across 3 squads, inside a 70-engineer SAFe Agile Release Train spanning Barcelona, Wolfsburg, Salzburg and Iași.
  • Delivered NADIN — the Group's order management, logistics, finance and invoicing platform — to importers in 118 countries, on a quarterly Program Increment cadence.
  • Led the migration of NADIN from on-prem Oracle / Tomcat to AWS (RDS + EC2), cutting infrastructure spend by ~€400k per year while improving scalability and availability.
  • Owned technical hiring, estimation, tribe organisation and stakeholder alignment with the German product organisation.

Officer — NADIN Migrations & Rollouts

07/2017 – Present

Volkswagen Group Services · Concurrent role

  • Led 11 country rollouts of NADIN (Canary Islands, Luxembourg, Portugal, Finland, Australia, Sweden, Korea, Mexico, India, Japan, Middle East) — on-site workshops, importer training and structured feedback loops back to the dev team.

Project IT Leader

09/2016 – 07/2017

Volkswagen UK

  • Led the regulatory WLTP software-update programme against a fixed EU emissions deadline, coordinating changes across 5 platforms — dealer management, vehicle enrolment, taxes, logistics and factory-interface systems.

Software Engineer

03/2016 – 09/2016

Volkswagen UK, Italy and Spain

  • Owned the end-to-end bug lifecycle across 3 markets — reproduction, fix, validation, service-pack rollout and production deployment — on Java / IBM RAD / WebSphere, tracked in HP ALM.

Earlier: Android Research Intern, MAPIR Robotics — University of Málaga (2015) · System Administrator, Axarnet, Málaga (2009–2010).

FAQ

What roles is Jesús looking for?

Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, and senior platform/cloud leadership roles. He has run multi-squad organisations and is equally comfortable owning delivery, hiring and technical direction.

How large a team has he managed?

He founded the NADIN engineering department at Volkswagen Group and scaled it from 3 to 25 engineers across 3 squads, operating inside a 70-engineer SAFe Agile Release Train spanning Spain, Germany, Austria and Romania.

Is he hands-on technical or purely management?

Both. He is an AWS Certified Solutions Architect and still ships code — recent side projects span Java/Spring, AWS, Python/Streamlit and native macOS and Wear OS apps, several built by reverse-engineering closed device APIs.

Does he have production cloud and AWS experience?

Yes. He led the migration of NADIN from on-prem Oracle/Tomcat to AWS (RDS + EC2), cutting infrastructure spend by roughly €400k per year while improving scalability and availability, and holds the AWS Certified Solutions Architect credential.

Where is he based and how does he work?

He is based in Madrid, Spain and works remotely. He has a decade of experience leading distributed teams and running on-site rollouts across Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.

What languages does he speak?

Spanish (native), English (Cambridge FCE) and German (A2).
